Happy New Year From A Sea of Blue

We at A Sea of Blue welcome the Big Blue Nation to 2012! Happy New Year to everyone.

It's hard to believe that we are now two years into the second decade of the 21st century. Time just seems to go faster and faster every year. I suppose that comes with getting older.

Be that as it may, it has been a great year so far for the Kentucky Wildcats. The volleyball team did very well, the UK Hoops team is highly ranked, and the men's team has defeated two of three major non-conference rivals on the way to what looks like yet another great year. The Wildcats certainly ended 2011 right with a huge victory over the Louisville Cardinals in Rupp Arena, the third straight year Kentucky has captured the Battle of the Bluegrass.

So join me in welcoming 2012. It starts out with great promise, and hopefully, it will leave us all better than it finds us.

A happy and prosperous new year

to all of BBN.

My New Year's resolution...

I will be nicer to my “little borthers” in the new year.

Rather than saying: Nyah, nyah, nyah.. your Cards suck!" I will compliment them saying: “Your team gave us all we could handle. Petino sure knows how to get the most out of his less talented team! I expect they will do well this year in the Big Least,..er.. East.”

Happy Blue Year in the BBN!

I Slept Into Into It

Now I woke up in it.

My favorite sports teams had pretty good 2011 season – UK in FF, UC football & Purdue football winning bowl games. Both UC and Purdue basketball had good years. UK football beat UT finally.

I hope 2012 is even better for all of them.

Hi Forty

Like you most of my teams are doing well. The Saint Louis Cardinals won it all. My Cats will be #2 this week. Murry State, just up the road is still undefeated. Lady Cats are tough. The only thing we need is #8. Go Cats!

Happy New Year Cat fans!

May it be a very Happy Blue Year!

All the best this year

Let’s hang #8 come March/April

Is 2012 the year we hang banner #8?

Let’s hope it is a Great New Year for all of us members of BBN.

According to some

it is our last chance. :)

My 2012 Resolutions....

-Get Married
-Get in better shape
-and quit lying

;-)

Happy New Year everyone!

That is basically my list as well

except for the lying part, I never acquired the habit.

Jorts Update

Josh Harrellson didn’t know he was starting in place of Amare Stoudamire until just minutes before tip-off so he didn’t have time to be nervous, result 14 and 12 including 4/8 3’s.

Harrellson connected on his first shot, a wide-open 3-pointer two minutes into the game. He added three more 3-pointers and clearly outplayed Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, his teammate for one season at Kentucky.

“I guarded him all season at practice, so I felt like I know DeMarcus’ game,” Harrelson said. “I thought I did a good job on my former teammate. I was trying to get him out of whack, get him out of his rhythm.”

There had been no rhythm offensively in the first three games for Harrellson, who had a combined three points and five rebounds in 29 minutes.

“It was very important for me to make that first shot and get my confidence going,” Harrellson said. “They had to come out and guard me and that opened things up and left other people open.”

King Is Dead, Long Live The King

Dick Weiss with his typically good piece on Calipari replacing Pitino as ruler of the Commonwealth. It includes this comment from Calipari:

"You people and the Louisville fans make too big a deal out of this game. There weren’t 57 Kentucky players out on the floor. We both have kids from all over and it’s not as big a deal for them. They’re not even in our league. But it is a big deal when you win."

What to make of it? One, I’m somewhat in agreement, and two, it’s an even bigger deal (for UK fans) when you lose.
