Today is the SEC basketball opening day, and already, the Tennessee Volunteers have upset the Florida Gators in Knoxville. This has the makings of a wild and wooly Saturday of basketball.
As we await the tip off of the South Carolina Gamecocks at Kentucky Wildcats, here are a few links to read, and talk about. Feel free to discuss any college basketball action also, or whatever else sports-related you might care to share.
94 feet: The latest Wildcat stats and trends - CoachCal.com
Kyle Wiltjer – Wiltjer has played double-digit minutes in six consecutive contests … He has missed all three of his long-range shots over the last two games after making 8-of-19 the previous four games (42.1 percent) … In his last 40 minutes of play, covering three games, Wiltjer has grabbed five rebounds.
Nice work by Ken as always.
Kentucky Wildcats: Robic's Riddle
Darius Miller became the 58th Wildcat to join the 1,000 point club this week, but can you name the player who has scored the most points in school history without ever posting a 20-point game?
My guess: Ralph Beard.

O’Brien goes yard in Penn State presser // CollegeFootballTalk
The university confirmed that O’Brien signed a five-year contract that will be worth $2.3 million annually and will include built-in five-percent raises per year. In 2011, Joe Paterno was scheduled to earn $1.02 million, so obviously the price of doing business since Penn State’s last hire more than four decades ago.

upsets in the making
Missouri down 17 with under 8 to play at K-State (probably not really an upset since it’s a road game)
Boston College only down 13 at UNC. Not that BC has any chance of winning this game, but it would be an upset if they lost be less than 30.

Robic's Riddle
The best I saw on Jon Scott’s site, http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/statistics.html
was Alan Edwards at #78 with a 19 pt high game.
