Ah, the praise. Ah, the accolades. Ah, the two media voters who stubbornly refuse to acknowledge Kentucky's superiority. Well, maybe Louisville will beat the Syracuse Orange tonight in the Chicken Ranch.
I'm committing what some might consider heresy and going all in for the Cards tonight. Why? because some Syracuse fans have annoyed me lately, and this is my revenge.
Lay the wood to 'em, Fat Wayne. Now, for the news:

Is Anthony Davis Truly Deserving of #1? // HOOPSWORLD
It’s not really fair to compare any freshmen to a Hall of Famer, but if there’s anyone worthy of it it’s Davis. Nothing against North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes, UConn’s Andre Drummond or even his teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Davis is the number one pick regardless of the winner of the draft lottery.
This is exactly right. Those speculating others may supplant him are either delusional or uninformed.
Kentucky (9-0) is off to its best start in the 30-year tenure of Emery. Including the win on Sunday over No. 30 Notre Dame, UK has taken down six ranked teams, including No. 12 Pepperdine and No. 22 Tulsa. The Wildcats have also taken down No. 29 Indiana, No. 53 Michigan State and No. 57 North Carolina State. UK’s win over Pepperdine was its 21st over a top-25 ranked team since the start of the 2009 season.

Calipari to Teague: "In this kind of game, those two are huge because the game is too tight."
Teague to Calipari: "I got you. They aren't scoring on me again."
That's the attitude we need, and Teague has really, really improved recently.

Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line // SBNation.com
Sorry, Chris. No sale. Duke is not worthy of a #1 seed by virtue of a last-second upset considering their entire body of work. Kansas is more worthy.
Go lady Wildcats, beat Tennessee!

John Clay: Cats earn impressive win // Kentucky.com
And it had nothing to do with this being ESPN’s GameDay or some UK fans’ misguided attempts to wreck it, or the crabby Digger Phelps, or the benches on the baseline, or any of that off-the-floor stuff.
Here’s what was impressive: Finally, Kentucky had to take a punch in the second half from a good team playing on the good team’s home floor.
Indeed.
What we learned from Saturday night // College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN
If Christian Watford's last-second shot doesn't fall in Assembly Hall on Dec. 10 -- back when Kentucky was still figuring things out -- the Cats are undefeated and we're talking less about this sudden surge of brilliance than whether UK could make it to the NCAA tournament with an unbeaten record. This team is one shot -- one 10-second defensive breakdown -- away from legendary comparisons.
I like it. I have nothing to add.

Dickie V. Shares some thoughts.
Not all flash: Kentucky's blue-collar defense sets it apart
These Wildcats play with dirt in their nails and sweat on their brow. They bump you off the block and push you to the edge of frustration with speed and length best used on the defensive end of the floor.
...
It's slow and painful for opponents, and if it wasn't for a 10-second stretch late in Bloomington, these Wildcats would be in discussions for the record books playing a possession-by-possession game that may not match their head coach's persona, but the outcomes meet the "salesman's" expectations perfectly.
Cluelessness like this is a travesty. When have you ever seen a team that does not reflect the personality of their coach?

Doron Lamb understands his job is to shoot like he did late to help beat Vanderbilt // vaughtsviews
"The zone was troublesome I would say," Calipari admitted. "Normallly we make more shots and it’s hard for teams to stay in a zone. But I could not get Doron to take a shot. I took him out and said, ‘If you are not going to shoot, you are not going back on the court. Your job is to shoot.’ He and Darius (Miller) have to shoot for us."
Exactly. Shoot the ball, Doron. You're not out there because you are a great defender, that's for sure.

Nothing on the USA/Mountain West merger???
oh well……they really still don’t have much…..
After this season, the critics, talking heads, lifelong stalwarts of the game, and everyone else who ever hammered on Calipari’s methods are going to have to line up for a huge apology session. They are all probably too chicken$#@ to do it, but they should. And they ought to all have their hats in their hand when they come.

I followed your fat wayne link
It took me to Card Chronicles, down at the bottom it said “You must be a member of Card Chronicle to participate.
Would you like to join?”
Made me feel dirty just to read that.

Did you wash yourself before coming back here?
Unclean! Unclean!

Although Lundardi has Cuse as the current #1 Overall in his bracket
he said in his chat today that he expects UK to actually get the #1 overall next month, AND he fully expects UofL to beat Cuse tonight!

I knew someone was going to do that.
I gave the idea to a friend that is working on a video media degree a couple of months ago but I guess he got beat to it.

AD wasn’t born then or if he was he was in diapers. Still a great thought to sleep on. What’s the opposite of nightmare?
bigboyblue - February 13, 2012
He wasn't born yet, born in 1993.

What is a Sup…
Nevermind, I’ll get by without knowing.
TeamWeaver - February 14, 2012
Boy, UL just blew that ballgame with SU.
They really should have won that. That Syracuse zone has lanes you could drive a truck through. Dieng can’t hit anything more than 6 feet from the basket. AD would have eaten them alive.
kywineman - February 13, 2012
I agree
their zone wasnt near as tight as Vandys

Senseless Siva lost it trying be “Gunboat Billy.” I’m glad he’s Pitino’s headache and not ours.
bigboyblue - February 13, 2012
His brain dead drives with no idea where he is going
plus all of their missed free throws = blown opportunity.
kywineman - February 13, 2012
I see Richard Pitino is back at UL with his dad ... finished the internship with Billy D I guess

Sutton (Okla State) – nope
Knight (Texas Tech) – nope
Bennett (Washington State) – not really
Thompson (Georgetown) – so so
Meyer (DePaul) – nope
hoboat33 - February 13, 2012
I hope they do it.
That would be the end of the Cards, imo.
TeamWeaver - February 14, 2012

Yep. I told my wife in the first half that they were going to lose this one at the line. U of L looked rattled at the line from the outset.
Syracuse? Lucky to leave the ’ville with a win. Wow.
bigboyblue - February 14, 2012
UofL didn't score a point in the last 3:40.
Lost by 1. Pathetic.
Wheatgerm - February 14, 2012
Syracuse tried to give UL the game many times but the Cards refused that gift
This was a miserable game to watch and more miserable with the Orange winning by default. When a team shoots only 1-15 from the three and gives you twice as many FT attempts than themselves what else do you expect but a lost – no, the Cards said no thanks. What a miserable game and lost of sleep I gave the Birds.
KansasUKCat - February 14, 2012
I thought I read somewhere that they were 1 of 29 from the three.
kywineman - February 14, 2012
ummm
what was that about CUSE losing to luvulle???
SEE YOU IN NOLA
CUSE IS GOD - February 14, 2012
You better be glad
that Louisville gave you that game, and make no doubt about it, it was a gift. After seeing that game tonight, I don’t think you guys will be there.
kywineman - February 14, 2012
Yeah - say, "Thank you," to the nice Cardinal!
57.1% freethrow shooting?!?
TeamWeaver - February 14, 2012
Waahoo!!!! Calipari calls an open practice and scrimmage in Memorial!
Wednesday’s practice at Memorial Coliseum will be open to UK students, faculty and staff and broadcast live from 3-5 p.m. on WKYT in Lexington, ESPNU, ESPN3.com and ukathletics.com! (Link)
TeamWeaver - February 14, 2012
Free tickets for students, faculty and staff
That’s who it’s about anyway. The students tend to get forgotten as the tournament season approaches. What a great move!
BlueCollarMan - February 14, 2012
cool!
If it actually, truly, really is on ESPN3 (and I’m skeptical since it’s on ESPNU) then I’ll be able to catch it!
