In the latest installment of the "Where are they now" feature at CoachCal.com, I talk to one of the all-time Unforgettable 'Cats, Deron Feldhaus. He talks about his time in Japan playing professionally, as well as his thoughts on this year's version of the Wildcats, plus, much, much more. Here's an excerpt:
As one of the four Unforgettables, Deron Feldhaus will be remembered as a member of the Wildcat team responsible for bringing Kentucky basketball back from the depths of probation to respectability and prominence.
It's a team UK basketball fans tuck closely to their hearts, remembering the loyalty and perseverance Richie Farmer, John Pelphrey, Sean Woods, and Feldhaus displayed so prominently during their reigns as Kings of the Commonwealth. They stayed when others around them were leaving; they stayed even though they had no coach, no possibility of postseason play, and no real chance of being successful.

I will never forget The Unforgettables
They came to our local high school for a game after the season ended, which was rare. A girlfriend of mine had the biggest crush on Deron at the time, and I can still see her face beaming when he posed for a picture with her.
Also, it is my only basketball annual signed by all four on the cover and it is one of my most valued blue possessions.

This show of loyalty endeared them to the BBN forever. Certainly, not the most athletic or talented group, but, they were sure fun to watch. Their reckless abandon and constant hustle, plus the ton of 3s they shot in the 14-14 season gave us all hope for the future.
After Sutton’s last season, the BBN needed this team. Most definitely a team that was and is Unforgettable.

These guys are my favorite team of all time.
I wondered if Kentucky basketball would ever be the same again and then these guys just WOWED us with all their heart and soul. i only wish they had a title to call their very own. I was in basic when “the game” happened. Had to wait until I got home to Kentucky in July to see the shot. My daddy had taped the entire tournament for me. I’ve seen that shot many times and swear there is no way it will fall, and then it does. Just saw it again today as they showed highlights of the Duke/NC game from last night. Just doesn’t seem right still to this day.

One of my favorite teams
I attended all of their home games from Pitino’s first season on and several of their away games. I just loved the heart these men played with.
Question: When watching on television, I don’t notice the words “Cawood’s Court” anywhere. Is it still on the court?

my favorite
Unforgettable! Of course it was not his basketball skills that made him my favorite! Great article Ken! Wasn’t he the one who gave his scholly up for another kid?

I loved that team
Some of my fondest memories came from watching those games. I have gotten to meet Daron several times because we are from the same town and he’s a great guy. Off topic would anyone have an extra ticket stubb from the Forida game they’d be willing to part with?
