When I was a student at UK (late 70’s) one of the Lexington TV stations used “Year of the Cat” as their theme song whenever they reported on UK basketball. Can’t remeber which station though.
… was never a hit. Roads to Moscow is a tour-de-force in lyrical storytelling and exquisite songwriting. It is one of my favorite songs by any artist, ever.
My favorite verse:
And it’s cold and damp in the transit camp, and the air is still and sullen
And the pale sun of October whispers the snow will soon be coming
And I wonder when I’ll be home again and the morning answers “Never”
And the evening sighs and the steely Russian skies go on forever
Great album.
I just bought it again about a month ago. I used to have it on vinyl, but I can’t seem to find it. Now it’s on my iPhone.
I particularly love “Sand in your shoes” and “Flying sorcery” as well as the title track. “Lord Grenville” and “On the border” are also awesome.

Palace of Versailles
Everytime I drive by the “castle” on Versaillles road “The Palace of Versailles” (from Al Stewart’s album “Time Passages”) pops into my head.

Probably the best Al Stewart tune of all time ...
