Well, that half of basketball absolutely sucked from a Kentucky Wildcats perspective. I have no words to describe the utter futility of the UK team, and it's something we haven't seen before.
There is an old saying in golf: If you didn't bring it with you, you won't find it on the course. Fortunately, team sports violate this truism all the time, so there is still hope here, and Kentucky is more than capable of overcoming a 13-point halftime deficit.
Let's hope they can, and do. I'm not tired of our winning streak yet. Go, 'Cats!

This is one of those games that Kentucky could easily drop if they don't bring their A-game. Mississippi St. is a talented team that has largely underachieved this year, particularly the last three games, which have all represented games that they should've won, but didn't. That means they are likely to be hungry for a victory, and it's never a good thing to face a team this talented who also has a lot of motivation.
Kentucky enters this game on a serious roll, having not tasted defeat since early December of last year. Over two months of undefeated basketball and maturation have turned this team into a machine that has only rarely been seriously challenged by anyone.
Well, that half was interesting, and the Mississippi Rebels made it that way with great play from Murphy Holloway, Terrance Henry, and Jelan Kendrick. But the Wildcats responded to every challenge and ended the half making 3 straight baskets from 3-point range, surrendering only a single free throw, to take an 8-point lead.
We need better play in the second half. Mainly, we need more patience.

The Rebels come into today's game after experiencing their low point of the season, a 102-76 thrashing by the Vanderbilt Commodores in Oxford that precipitated the throwing on the floor of objects by fans and a fight between some Ole Miss players in the corridor to the locker room. It will be interesting to see how this experienced team reacts to that distraction, along with 25,000 additional distractions today in Rupp Arena.
This is just an open thread to chat about the ball games prior to Ole Miss. I'll leave this at the top and keep the other items just under. Use it for discussing anything sports or Kentucky related.
I admit I feel a tiny bit foolish posting this, but it's worth it for no other reason than the novelty of the thing, and it might be the last one we ever see done this way. Also it was requested, and I live to serve the Big Blue Nation.

So enjoy!
That half needs no exposition. It was one of the most dominant halves against a high-quality team I have seen in quite some time.
I want a lot more of this.

Kentucky brings a 16-game winning streak into the Music City tonight, as well as the top ranking in the country. There will be fans hanging from the rafters in Memorial Gym tonight, a place which has hosted SEC basketball games since well before I was born, and before my mother and father were wed.
Vanderbilt is coming off a comfortable home victory over the LSU Tigers, breaking a two-game losing streak. Defeating Kentucky tonight would give a much-needed shot in the arm to a program that, in the eyes of many, has underachieved significantly this year despite the injury and suspension of senior center Festus Ezeli.
